What it is
strAImer is a Windows desktop application that sits between your streaming platforms and OBS: it reads chat, donations, subscriptions and channel points, reacts to them, and drives OBS while you play. Alerts, chat overlays, chat commands and timers, voice-over, an AI agent, an auction, statistics and the Control Panel are all parts of it.
It does not broadcast anything. OBS sends the video; strAImer runs everything around it.
Windows only, 64-bit. There is no macOS, Linux or ARM build.
Platforms it reads: Twitch, YouTube and Kick for chat and events. Donations arrive from seven separate services — DonationAlerts, DonatePay, DonateX, StreamElements, StreamEngine, Streamlabs and Trula — and from the platforms themselves: Twitch Bits and YouTube Super Chat count as donations too, through the platform connector, with no donation service in between. Of the seven services only the first two come with the app; the rest are installed from the catalog.
Six interface languages: English, Русский, Español, Português, Deutsch, Français.
Where to start
- Sign in to a platform. Open Connections → Channels and press the button on the Twitch, YouTube or Kick card. That starts the connector and opens its own settings page inside the app; the sign-in button is on that page, and the browser opens from there. Donation services are one screen over, under Connections → Monetization.
- Connect OBS. Connections → OBS, with the port and password taken from the WebSocket Server settings inside OBS Studio.
- Put the overlays on screen. Each widget page carries its own link, and that link goes into a Browser Source in OBS.
- Install what did not come with the app. Module Catalog → Add-ons — the auction, the carousel, the voice-over and speech recognition are downloaded here. Free, and no account is asked for.
- Sign in to strAImer for the AI and everything tied to an account. Settings → strAImer Account — that covers the AI agent, cloud copies of your settings, your public page and the partner program. Everything in the four steps above works without it.
Each step has a guide of its own: "Signing in to platforms", "OBS", "Overlays in OBS", "Module Catalog" and "Account and Credits".
What runs on your own computer
Almost everything: the connectors, the overlays, the Control Panel, scenarios, chat commands, timers, statistics, the auction and the carousel. Speech recognition and voice-over are local too — the microphone audio never leaves the machine and the speech is synthesized on it.
All of that keeps working while straimer.com is unreachable. A broadcast does not stop because our server is down.
So does this handbook: Help & Feedback → Handbook opens with no internet, no server and no sign-in, because its text ships inside the installer.
What needs our server
Two lists, and they are not the same one.
Needs the server, but no account: installing and updating modules, because the catalog reads the list of what is available from straimer.com, and the update check for the application itself under Settings → Updates. Modules you already have keep working — it is getting new ones and getting newer versions that waits.
Needs the server and an account: the AI agent, the web search and image generation it can do, cloud copies of your settings, your public page at straimer.com, the partner program, and the plan and credits themselves.
While the server is unreachable, everything on both lists pauses. Nothing on either list stands in the path of a broadcast that is already running.
The application does not require an account. Signing in covers the second list and nothing else. The Free plan grants 100 credits a month, and only requests to the AI spend them — connectors, overlays, the Control Panel, scenarios, statistics, the module catalog and the voice-over are free and are not limited by a plan.
The internet is still needed
An internet connection is assumed. This is software for live streaming — without the internet there are no platforms and no viewers. "Runs on your own computer" means our server is not in the path of your broadcast, not that the app works offline.
Where your data lives
Settings, platform tokens, chat history and statistics sit in a database file under %APPDATA%\straimer on your own computer. Platform tokens are encrypted with a Windows account key, so copying that file to another machine does not make them readable.
What it cannot do
- No macOS, Linux, mobile or browser version. Windows x64 only. Buying a plan and your public page live in the browser, but the streaming half of the product runs only here.
- Nothing reacts to your stream while the app is closed. There is no cloud bot, no tray mode and no autostart: shut the window or turn the PC off, and chat commands, timers, alerts and overlays stop with it. Cloud-hosted chat bots work the other way round, so this catches people out.
- It does not stream, record or encode video, and it does not replace OBS.
- VK Play, Trovo and Rumble are not supported — there is no module for any of them.
- Overlays are not hosted by us. The link a Browser Source opens is served by the application itself, so OBS has to be able to reach the computer strAImer runs on.
